Why we are here

In the days when the BBS was popular, sysops would pay to have phone lines comming into their home. They would purchase modems and computer equipment, then spend their spare time managing the system. The sysops usually did not make money from their sites, it was just fun technology to play with and they enjoyed making their own corner of the world accessable to others.

Powertrip.net appeared a generation after the BBSs, but with the same basic idea.. a non-corporate hosting system run by a sysadmin who simply enjoys playing with technology and sharing when off from work.

Misc toys - Siemens SX66

The Siemens SX66 is a PDA phone combo. I'm using Cingular for the provider. The phone part of this would have almost 11 hours of talk-time if not for the PDA functionality. The combo of both works well together especially with a few extra Pocket PC software pieces that finish out the unit.

Misc toys - Phone Alarm

Pocketmax has a great program for those who use Pocket PC based cell phones to support profile switching. The software allows the user to change between several "profiles" which adjust everything from ring volume, ring tone, back light and many other settings with just a quick tap on the today screen. Additionally, versions 1.22 and newer allow most phones to use "cell ID" to change profiles.. ie: when you get home, switch to home profile.. when at work, automatically change to "meeting" mode. ..and most important these days, the program is user-friendly.
