Saturday night I was lucky enough to go see Vienna Teng in concert. Her performance was flawless as usual. I’ve been talking to my friends since then about her performance. We’ve come to the basic decisions that she plays flawlessly, has a great/professional stage presence both between songs and while playing, has a wonderful voice.. and the list goes on. Normally if I think about one person on a keyboard or a piano and singing, my mind doesn’t fill with the fullness and wide-range of melody and tones that Vienna is able to create. Still in awe a few days later. I recommend that you buy her CD and then pass the word along. The music industry seems to be hard enough to inch your way into and when you find a good artist like this, it’s worth it to own a CD or two and to help them out (hey, and you get a legit copy of some cool music.. go figure).
Oh, and yes, there were other performances that night as well. None as good, but Jane was the second best - her dance/rap moves took away from her performance in my opinion. sometimes it almost seemed that her singing would get jerky while she worked out certain “moves”. Two guitar playing guys weren’t all that bad either. The last person who was up (and who played before Vienna) I can’t recall a name for, but she was just singing the wrong tunes. She probably could be really good.
