Eclectus parrot plucking

Ok, so I was out of town for the last few days… I get back and heard that my friends only visited my parrot once. The thing is, he’s not as “social” as you’d think so it never really concerns me when he’s left alone. He has a plucking problem but other than that he does good on his own. Turns out, he’s grown some very long feathers in my absense.. makes me wonder if I contribute to his plucking .. and if so, how do I stop it?

First RL meeting..

I just got back from a trip overseas to meet my gf. We’ve been dating online for just short of a year. Finally it was time to meet in real life. Online and on the phone we had talked about virtually everything under the sun.. from politics to how we keep the house looking to being punctual to views on pets to our definition of relaxing.. etc. When it came time for the trip, I found myself more concerned about travel issues (my first time leaving the country) and not meeting in RL since I already *know* her IMO. I’ve left names and locations out of this blog post to protect the innocent.. and the guilty ;)

The planning.. last minute due to circumstances beyond our control. Had to try for a last minute passport which “should” arrive the day before I have to leave. Plane tickets that didn’t meet the “14 day advance purchase” time or the “7 day stay”, the e-visa for the other country.. but it worked.

The flight out.. took forever, seating sucked. Ended up in my requested window seat, but the 2 people between me and the isle slept the whole time, so I couldn’t get up easilly to use the restroom or walk around. I got to get up 3 times during the flight, the rest of the time I was contorted into a funky position trying to type on my laptop etc (due to the guy in front of me sleeping with the chair back there was NO room).

The stay… was wonderful. She was everything we had talked about and more.. and every bit was great :) We walked the area, went to the mall, hung out at her place, watched TV shows, relaxed and did things that we expected to in RL.. not tourist things. It went quite well :) Neither of us found things that we didn’t like about the other person. We didn’t agree on “everything” but the things we didn’t agree on were things like “what do you want on your burger” which didn’t matter ;)

The trip back.. was wonderful.. business class! I ended up being assigned to the same seat as someone else so they moved me to business class. I had enough room that I couldn’t kick the seat in front of me if I tried. I got to get up often during the flight to stretch, always had my water glass topped off and the food was very good.

The questions remaining after this trip… when do we do it again? ..her place or mine? ..and when do we get to do this “long term”..? :) I look forward to all of the above. Life’s good. (and yes, it’ll all work out)

Personal failing

Recent events of tracking down blog spammers has made me notice what might be one of my worst qualities. People getting away with doing things without consequences brings me to a point of outrage. This ranges from friends who take advantage of other friends to spammers to neighbors who can’t follow rules but never get in trouble.

The recent episode with a spammer has gotten me to blow up to the point of doing things I would normally not even dream of.. such as mailing hundreds of mails to a set of addresses in an attempt to get SOMEONE to respond to my complaint. I’m not happy about it, still frothing and upset that it took that much to get a response out of people.
